The Sharp Things on MTV.com

Well, the Sharp Things have passed another hurdle on their push for fame, fortune, and glory (or at least recognition for the good music that we create). MTV.com writer Kurt Orzeck has posted a short piece about us at http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1563346/20070625/story.jhtml - we are included in a story about Kelly Clarkson, the Beastie Boys, 3 Inches of Blood, and Elvis Costello (how's that for a varied line-up!). The article is quoted here:

The Sharp Things' A Moveable Feast
Also sharpening up its third effort this week is this symphonic-pop band from New York. The Sharp Things' crew is even larger than 3 Inches' — 10 bandmembers recorded the album, but the ensemble also tapped the Hold Steady's Franz Nicolay, a 40-piece orchestra and Broadway star Michael Cerveris for the outing. Recorded in kitchens, living rooms, basements and elsewhere, the homemade LP features "Franz Agoniste," "Driving in Manhattan in My Car" and "What's the New Girl Wonder."

A postive review, no doubt, but some odd song choices to mention for an LP filled with great music (and for those who have not heard the album, go and get yourself a copy at The Sharp Things website.

New Bio Up, more layout design updates

Hey Everyone,

First, my new and updated biography is now up. It includes references to my current bands as well as talking about my continuing interest in education and teaching.

Second, I put some minor updates up regarding layout - it changed a couple of pages in a minor way, so let me know what you think with some comments.

Finally, my calendar function seems to be out of order at the time. Rest assured that I am working on fixing this problem while also adding all of my upcoming performances to it. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

The Sharp Things mentioned by USA Today....

So, Ken Barnes put a short but very complimentary review of the upcoming release of "A Movable Feast" on his USA Today Music Blog. To read it, go to

http://blogs.usatoday.com/listenup/

We are part of the 6/14/2007 post titled First Impressions: "Back for more previews and such" - the full review is quoted here:

"Sharp Things, A Moveable Feast (out June 26): From Pretty to Sharp, doing my Things this week. This is an ambitious NYC-area orchestral collective that aims for a grand, sweeping, sophisticated, ornate sort of pop and often, as on Through With Love, hits the target."

Very Nice!

The Sharp Things at Housing Works tomorrow!

The Sharp Things received an email on Tuesday for a last minute gig tomorrow, Friday, June 15th, at Housing works in Manhattan. We will be opening for Apples in Stereo!

Housing Works is located at 126 Crosby St in New York. We will be starting at about 7:45 and playing about 35 - 40 minutes.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by clicking here.

Hope you can make it!

Even More Changes Completed!

Great news - work continues successfully!

I have completed a samples page with new, updated samples - myself playing jazz, blues, and chamber pop music. In addition to mp3 samples, I also have video of myself - coming soon, my audition video for NYU!

In addition, I have added a pictures page - I will be putting pics of myself up on that page. The albums are hosted through Picasa (a service of Google), and the linked albums will take you to the hosted pictures on Picasa. I am learning the code to have the linked albums open in a new page so you don't have to leave my site, and will be fixing that small bug shortly.

My next major project is picking a picture to add to my biography, and updating the calendar and my biography. Stay tuned for more changes coming soon!

The Sharp Things up for Band of the Month!!

So, this is late in coming (but the site is new, so hopefully it's forgivable), but The Sharp Things are up for Band of the Month in The Deli magazine! We are pushing hard to be the next band of the month, and we need your help. If you haven't already, go to http://www.thedelimagazine.com/snacks.php and put in your vote for The Sharp Things today. And tell all of your friends - voting ends at the end of the month!

Even More Work Completed!

Hey Everyone,

I have now turned over the new work to the world by making the new default page my new site (for those of you not in the know, this was in private preview for the past few days...). Work still continues, but I have moved forward by completing more pages.

Currently, I have the following completed:

The home page
The Biography page (want to add a picture and update content, but the layout is completed)
The Calendar page (powered by Google Calendar - real events coming soon!)
The Links page (email me if you want to be listed and I will consider you!)
My Contact Page

I will be working on my samples page next (deciding on what samples to utilize), and then I will start to update content and gigs. Finally, after the whole site is up-to-date layout and content-wise, I will be looking to add new features (a pictures page, an email form, and who knows what else.....). Stay tuned and come back often to see the changes and new additions!

Work Continues!

Hey Everyone,

I'm still working hard. I'm now coming up with a new header graphic, and will also be working on the other pages of the site. Hopefully I will be able to unveil the full site in the next 2 - 4 weeks. Until then, enjoy the preview!
